Why Do Locations Become Unexplored Again Elite Dangerous
Elite Dangerous contains a vast 1:i calibration simulation of the Galaxy milky way based on real scientific principles, electric current scientific data and theories. It includes effectually 400 billion star systems, and is modeled on bodily galactic charts. Planets and moons rotate and orbit with 1:1 scale in real-time, thus constantly changing a system'south surround. The galaxy is divided into 42 Galactic Regions.

Overview
Aristocracy Unsafe features an immersive, evolving milky way with dynamic societies, economic system and stories, allowing pilots to bring together each other and influence the overarching narrative via the background simulation in the Milky way.
- The vast ane:i scale Milky Way milky way is based on existent scientific principles, scientific information, star catalogues and theories. Information technology is created using a mix of procedural generation and artist management. It has realistic astrophysics and scale.
- Around 400 billion star systems according to electric current scientific theories of star arrangement formation with planets and moons that orbit and rotate.[1] [2] It includes well known systems like Sol and Alpha Centauri. Some systems accept multiple stars.
- Groundbreaking in that it is based on a lot of difficult science with all sorts of star surveys that are fixed and merged to for the first fourth dimension in gaming history etch a very consistent model of the Milky Mode milky way and it is rich enough to plot the night sky.[3]
- Cosmic phenomena, all different kinds of stars, star systems, blackness holes, detailed planets, moons, mountains, canyons, craters, planetary ring systems, star rise etc.
- Peculiarly handcrafted overrides for 160,000 known stars in the dark sky and planetary objects that we know and beloved. For example, our solar organization Sol with World, the Moon and Mars. At that place are systems with recently discovered planets such as Trappist-1.
- Alien life such as fungal life.
- 141 nebula in the Galaxy milky way.
- Star Clusters with rich survey data opportunities.
- 32 other galaxies are visible from the Milky Mode.
- Several sapient species in the galaxy. The most notable are Humans, Thargoids and Guardians. More sapient species are yet to exist discovered.
- 42 Galactic Regions, 9 major galactic arms and the Galactic Aeroplane.
- Constellations can be seen from Sol.
Milky way Milky way
Elite Dangerous allows players to travel to near every visible star seen from normal infinite. The constellations change with parallax as y'all explore the galaxy, and the night sky viewed from Globe is, of class, authentic.[iv]
Borderland achieved this by starting with as much information every bit nosotros could gather about the 160,000 known star systems from our galaxy.[4]
We know the temperature, size and metallicity (the periodic elements that make upwards the star's limerick) of those stars. And we also know the mass distribution of the Galaxy.[4]
Our unique Stellar Forge organisation takes that information, rolls time backwards toward the Large Blindside, and simulates from there the composition of hundreds of thousands of celestial bodies using the first principles that astrophysicists believe govern our universe. It uses the nebula hypothesis to simulate the composition and orbit of all the undiscovered stars, exoplanets, moons and black holes in our Milky Way galaxy.[4]
We stop up with a huge amount of technical information about each star and its planets, moons and asteroid fields, such as temperature, chemical composition and orbit.[4]
This delivers both an incredibly authentic and cute catholic ballet, with all the motions of the celestial bodies correct, and is also the foundation for the unlike economies of each arrangement in-game.[four]
Galaxy Map
The Galaxy Map is used to navigate through the Milky Way galaxy. The Organization Map displays a system's layout and data. Any discovered celestial and organisation information is documented on the Organization Map.
Planets
For Planetary Landings they've extended the simulation still further. Frontier takes into account the factors that govern the formation of planets, from the basic chemical limerick, size, neighbouring moons and tectonic activity.[4]
We simulate the compression of tectonic plates, so nosotros can see where they'd movement together and motion apart. That creates where ridges are formed, mountains, or canyons and trenches.[iv]
We simulate bear upon craters, volcanism and ageing. The minerals and elements making upward the planet determine its appearance and colors.[four]
Y'all can seamlessly approach and land anywhere on a one:i scale planet and experience every square meter of terrain beginning-paw, either flight your send close to the mountains and in the canyons, or landing and driving your SRV.[4]
And again the simulation feeds direct into gameplay, with resources to be nerveless and synthesized, big surface ports to trade in, shipwrecks to explore and fortified settlements to be defeated.[4]
Nebulae
In that location are 141 documented nebulae in the Milky way galaxy and 32 external galaxies. They are all present in-game. The distances range from 380 light years from Sol to the Pleiades Nebula and upward to 27,900 light years to the G2 dust cloud.
Core Systems
The Cadre Systems, also known as "The Chimera", is a sphere of about 150 calorie-free years around Sol where powers compete for influence, resources, territory and command. The territory book is nearly xiii.8 meg cubic calorie-free years, and encompasses over 20,000 inhabited systems with over 66,000 stations, starports and outposts.
There are Asteroid Bases in deep space. Major hubs of human expansion outside the Cadre Systems are the Pleiades Nebula and Colonia Region.
Population
As of Dec 18, 3305, the galaxy'due south total man population based on system population data is six,632,509,648,309, and the milky way'south full commodities market stock in tonnes is112,693,047,481.[5] [6]
Hard Science
Elite Dangerous is groundbreaking in that the structure of its galaxy is based on hard science. Numerous star surveys were used to plot real stars in the night sky and help compose a consist model of the Milky Fashion.
During a keynote presentation at Nordic Game 2014 David Braben said, "We've taken a lot of hard science to compose the galaxy and then everybody that's in all sorts of star surveys we've merged with fixed errors in the star surveys so in ane identify, maybe for the get-go time we've got a very consequent model of the milky way and information technology's rich plenty that we can plot the night sky. Simply when nosotros plotted the nighttime sky equally viewed from Earth it's really vivid and it actually doesn't look right. So what we've and then done is we've tuned the dust and then that it actually matches the night sky when viewed from Earth. What'south interesting is in that location is style more dust than most scientific theories say there should be. But we tin can tell by merely wandering outside on a clear day and looking know that'southward what it should be so we are really looking at that from sort of first principles. There really is a lot of grit, only the nifty thing from a game point of view is it really makes the night sky very interesting. So yous don't need to wing very far in game terms from Globe for the nighttime sky to change quite dramatically. And then for those who've played it we've actually put in most of the earth centric constellations in the heaven, simply when you lot travel a piddling abroad they all misconstrue, but more important we are bang in the center of this dust. So your dark heaven is quite nighttime, but if you become say a hundred light years directly out of the galactic plane information technology's a bit like poking up. When you're on a plane taking off from an aerodrome, you get that amazing view when yous come out of the clouds looking out of the window and y'all suddenly run across right across. That'south what it's similar and some of the systems, Achenar for example is the center of the Empire and a behemothic arrangement which is actually out of the galactic plane so you tin can run into across to the galaxy just a fiddling bit information technology'south just wonderful."[vii]
Exploration
The Codex has a Discoveries section and the milky way consists of 42 regions. Each galactic region has data detailing the stellar bodies, geological/biological entities and civilization contained within them. Inside each system, there are a variety of things for you to discover, such as stars, terrestrials, species, gas giants, Points of Involvement and more.[8]
- Equally of March ii, 2018, Commanders discovered 112,863,791 unique star systems, which is only 0.028% of the systems in the milky way.[ix] Over 20,262,978,541 calorie-free-years had been traversed via hyperspace since Elite Unsafe was released.[10]
- As of Feb 26, 2019, but 0.036% of the galaxy had been explored.[xi]
- As of Dec sixteen, 2019, only 0.042% of the galaxy had been explored.[six]
- As of January 20, 2022, only 0.05% of the galaxy, or exactly 222,083,678 unique star systems, had been explored.[12]
Traffic
EDSM made traffic study videos which show ship movement and exploration in the galaxy. It's based on data taken from EDSM flight logs. ED-Board made an Elite: Dangerous Heatmap timelapse generated from the edsm.cyberspace database (systems data submitted by E:D players) to show progress of the Galaxy exploration. Check the explorer page for more than information.
Hanekura Shizuka decided to run across just how long a circumnavigation of the galaxy would take. He started at the Witch Caput Science Center to its stop at Achrende. It went pretty fast. He started at 18:55:00 on May 23, 3304, and finished at 08:11:13 on May 31. Total time to circumnavigate the galaxy was: 7 days, 13 hours, 16 minutes, thirteen seconds.[thirteen] [14]
Brown dwarf layer
At that place is a layer of systems throughout the galaxy that has a very high density of brown dwarf stars. The layer is located approximately on the galactic plane. This represents a hazard to exploration navigation because it contains very few scoopable stars.
Online
The online galaxy of Elite: Unsafe is a shared universe maintained by a primal server. All of the meta data for the galaxy is shared between players on all platforms. This includes the galaxy itself every bit well equally transient information similar economies. The aim hither is that a player's actions will influence the development of the galaxy, without necessarily having to play multiplayer.
The other of import aspect for the developers is that they can seed the galaxy with events, often these events will be triggered by player actions. With a living breathing galaxy players can notice new and interesting things long after they have started playing.
The game features a shared persistent galaxy server, where macro effects and events such as economy, society and war status etc. are recorded.
Powerplay is an ongoing boxing for interstellar conquest and control in thegalaxy. Powers are powerful individuals and organizations which players can pledge fidelity to aid guide their strategy, and accept on special objectives to advance shared goals. Actor choices and actions accept a directly and visible touch on on the residue of galactic power.
The server transparently creates free roaming sessions (instances) when meeting other players and NPCs within that milky way based on a perception chimera around yous, that is defined past your scanner/visual range. That means that those instances are non a stock-still location in space as in virtually other MMOs, but they dynamically move effectually. The effects of those instances are then stored on the key galaxy server and shared by everybody.
Considering the game features very loftier speed twitch combat and very detailed damage models, this is the most reliable way to practice information technology, also keep in listen there tin be many sessions within a star system and those sessions can dynamically move around, also considering this game uses a 1:1 scale Galaxy galaxy, sessions volition typically be spread out much farther away (although near of the action will exist within the core systems) and it wouldn't exist immersion breaking as opposed to a space game in a smaller area.
Persistent Information
Every week the servers go offline to allow the Galaxy's persistent data to update:[xv]
- Star Arrangement & Station/Outpost ruling small factions, alignment, and bachelor commodities & services
- Powerplay Control/Exploited Systems
- Addition of new Community Goals
The update unremarkably takes between 30 and 60 minutes, during which time you cannot login to the Galaxy.
Lore
The official Elite: Dangerous Role Playing Game has in-depth lore about the universe of Elite: Unsafe. Hither'southward a summary:
Inexpensive and faster than light travel has enabled humanity to expand across the stars. They've congenital colonies, cities, stations and empires. This led to the ascension of galactic superpowers: the Federation, Empire and Alliance. The galaxy's vast wealth of minerals, water and life-bearing planets makes them wealthier every day. Such wealth of the major factions attracts powerful people who scheme daily to gain ability. [16]
The center-classes tin afford spaceships similar cars in the 20th century. This gives them tremendous freedom. Space trade is seldom hampered by politics. Pilots are encouraged to exercise all kinds of jobs such equally supplying stations. Petty has inverse for those in the lesser of society since the quondam-Earth's night ages. The planet-spanning mega corporations employ entire nations and rule unchecked over vast sections of the galaxy. Weapons are readily bachelor and people are inclined to shoot outset. The full general lawlessness of space, inequality, greed of the galactic elite, navigational hazards and fierce creatures on planets go far a dangerous galaxy. [16]
Visible Galaxies
A full of 32 galaxies have been identified by CMDR Dr. Kaii (including dwarf and irregular galaxies). The nearest milky way is the Large Magellanic Deject at 158,200 light years. The furthest is NGC 6703 at 106 million light years.[17]
